Overview

Applications, forms and properties.

Family-level orientation. Values for a specific grade are quoted only from that grade’s own data sheet.

Typical applications
  • High-speed cable and interconnect insulation
  • Wire coating and jacketing
  • Film for release, lining and lamination
  • Tubing for chemical and electronics applications
Confirmed supply forms
  • Pellets (extrusion & molding grades)
  • Film
  • Tubing
Why it is chosen
  • Favorable dielectric behavior for signal applications
  • Thermal stability in cable environments
  • Melt-processable — suited to thin-wall extrusion
  • Good chemical resistance and clarity

Teflon™ FEP grades

Grade references.

Chemours Teflon™ FEP is supplied as translucent pellets for melt extrusion, injection, transfer and compression molding. The grades differ mainly in melt flow: the high-MFR 9000/8000/6000 series for fine and thin-wall wire, the mid-range grades for general cable and tubing, and the low-MFR grades where stress-crack resistance leads. Foamable FFR grades are listed separately.

Nitrogen-injection physical foaming lowers dielectric constant and loss, cable capacitance, weight and size. Requires a foaming screw, nitrogen booster and nozzle designed for the cable.

Teflon™ FEP film
Transparent film for heat-sealing, lamination, release and metallisation; MIT flex life 10,000 cycles; dielectric constant 2.0.
Teflon™ FEPD 121D dispersion
55 % solids aqueous dispersion for non-stick coatings.

Typical values as published by the producer for orientation; they are not a specification. Each grade is confirmed against its current TDS, with units and test conditions, before we quote. Chemours, Teflon™, Tefzel™, Zonyl™ and ECCtreme™ are trademarks of The Chemours Company.

Before we quote

What we confirm first.

The questions that decide whether a FEP grade fits your line. Having them ready shortens the first exchange.

Melt flow / grade family the line is tooled for

Solid or foamed insulation, and wall thickness targets

Electrical targets

Dielectric constant and dissipation factor at the operating frequency

Flame / smoke requirements tied to the cable standard
